PROFESSIONAL SOD INSTALLATION

Sod Installation: Instant Gratification

Don’t wait months for grass to grow. Sod provides an immediate, weed-free lawn. You can enjoy it in weeks, not seasons.

However, sod is not just “outdoor carpet.” It is a living plant. It is being transplanted. This is a traumatic event for the grass. If you just throw it on top of hard dirt, it will die. The roots cannot penetrate the clay.

H3: Our Sod Varieties We source fresh, locally grown turf that thrives in the Valdosta climate.

  • Bermuda: This is the athlete of grasses. It is durable. It repairs itself quickly. It is perfect for families with dogs or active kids.

  • Zoysia: We call this the “barefoot grass.” It is dense. It chokes out weeds. It feels like a thick carpet. It also handles shade better than Bermuda.

  • Centipede: The low-maintenance favorite. It loves the acidic, sandy soil of South Georgia. It grows slowly, so you mow less.

  • St. Augustine: The shade king. If you have large Oak trees, this is often your best option.

The Installation Process
1. Site Prep

We remove old weeds.

2. Tilling

We fracture the soil to allow air and water to reach deep.

3. Grading

We ensure water flows away from your home foundation.

4. Laying

We install sod in a brick-pattern for strength.

5. Rolling

We press the roots firmly against the soil to remove air pockets.

Hydroseeding

Hydroseeding: Efficient & Economical

Do you have a sprawling 2-acre lot? Is sod too expensive for your commercial site? Hydroseeding is the advanced alternative to dry seeding.

The Science of the “Green Slurry”

You have likely seen trucks spraying a green mixture on roadsides. This is hydroseeding. It is a scientifically blended “slurry.” It contains:

  • Grass Seed: A custom blend for your area.

  • Wood Fiber Mulch: This protects the seed from the sun.

  • Fertilizer: Instant food for germination.

  • Tackifiers: A binding agent (glue) that sticks the mixture to the ground.

Why Choose Hydroseeding?

  • Cost-Effective: It is significantly cheaper than sod. It is ideal for large lots (1/2 acre and up).

  • Erosion Control: The tackifier binds to the soil immediately. It prevents rain from washing away the seed. This is critical for slopes and ditches.

  • Moisture Retention: The mulch holds up to 10 times its weight in water. This keeps the seeds moist. It gives them a better success rate than traditional dry scattering.

Which Method is Right for You?

Option A: Sod

  • Best For: Residential front yards, erosion-prone areas, and “move-in ready” needs.
  • Speed: Instant visual appeal. It is walkable in 2-3 weeks.
  • Cost: Higher investment. You are paying for the farm to grow it for a year first.
  • Watering: Heavy watering for the first 14 days.

      Option B: Hydroseeding

      • Best For: Large lots, commercial sites, roadsides, and budget-conscious builds.

      • Speed: Germination in 7-10 days. You will have a full lawn in 6-10 weeks.

      • Cost: Low cost per square foot.

      • Watering: Strict watering schedule required. If the slurry dries out, the seed dies.

      The Common Factor (Soil)

It All Starts With the Soil

It does not matter if you choose sod or hydroseeding. If the soil is bad, the grass will fail. Valdosta soil is often sandy and acidic. Or, it is compacted red clay. Neither is great for new grass.

      • pH Balancing: We test the soil. We add lime to raise the pH if needed.

      • De-compaction: Construction equipment crushes the soil. We loosen it up.

      • Nutrient Loading: We add starter fertilizer. This promotes root growth, not just leaf growth.

      MAINTENANCE & CARE

      Protecting Your Investment

New turf is fragile. It is like a newborn baby. It cannot survive on its own yet.

      The First 14 Days

      • Sod: Keep it soaking wet. The water must go through the sod and into the dirt below.

      • Hydroseed: Keep it moist. Do not let the green crust turn tan (dry). Light watering 2-3 times a day is best.

      The First Mow

Do not mow too early. Wait until the roots grab the soil.

      • Test: Pull gently on the grass. If it lifts up, do not mow. If it holds tight, it is ready.

      Common Questions About Turf
Can you hydroseed over existing grass?

No. The seed needs to touch the soil. If it lands on leaves or weeds, it will not root. We must prepare the ground first.

Will heavy rain wash away the hydroseed?

Generally, no. The “tackifier” (glue) holds it in place. However, a torrential tropical storm might cause some washout. We can touch up those areas.

How long does sod take to root?

In the growing season (Spring/Summer), it takes about 2-3 weeks. In the winter, it may stay dormant until the weather warms up.

      Do you offer warranties?

We guarantee our installation quality and the health of the sod upon delivery. However, we cannot warranty against lack of watering. Once we leave, the hose is in your hands.
